This is King West Kitchen (KiWe) in Toronto, Canada designed by Roundabout Studio Inc. I came across this while checking out Barzelle, a custom millwork, furniture, & cabinetry that fabricated all solid surfaces, booths, cabinetry, dining tables and outdoor patio furniture for the project. What I really love though is the application of the laser cut metal ceiling grid lit from above. The additional design element of the shadows created by this application are very playful and unexpected in the space. I also like the subtle tie in of the pattern in the booth upholstery.

Love it.

Check out the new bridge due to start construction next month in Dubai. It will be the “largest and tallest arch bridge in the world, at one mile long and 670 feet tall.” Designed by Fxfowle out of New York, the bridge is scheduled to be finished in 2012 and cost $817 million. Nuts.

So I have decided to start studying to take the LEED AP test…I am not looking forward to it. Although I am typically a fairly good test taker, it’s been a while since I’ve studied hard for anything significantly challenging and I am a little afraid of this test. I started looking online for study guides and came across this site that has online flashcards as well as other helpful material available. I haven’t tried the flashcards yet, but hopefully they will be good. Check them out here.

I think I just found the next hotel I am staying in. Wyndahm just opened a new all-inclusive resort in my favorite Mexican destination of Cozumel. We will definitely have to try this place out - the suites look amazing ;)

Here is a new green design magazine I read about in ASID Icon. It is called Green Source and it allows you to view the magazine online or sign up for a subscription. Anyway, it looks like it has a lot of information on current news in the green design world and it includes current green projects to read about.

Here is a fun little site that includes color trends for 2008 as well as a short quiz that matches your personality with a color palette. I am a “Leather, Stone, & Wood” with a secondary palette of “Desert Spice”. Kind of entertaining if you have a min.

The USGBC (United States Green Building Council) has started a new website that is meant to provide education on green design. I just watched their current feature video "High Performance Building: Perspectives and Practice" that gives numerous examples of LEED rated buildings across the country and the types of green initiatives they incorporated. This is a great video for design clients thinking about going for LEED for their building.

So for some reason I really wanted to try making some home-made pretzels. We used this recipe and they actually turned out really yummy. I’ve made them twice now, and I am surprised how good they are.

this guy is ridiculous. A lot of people give him a hard time for what he does saying that photorealism is a non-art. I love it though :)
